Dr. Peter Sherman

Dr. Peter Sherman is a graduate of the Bronx High School of Science. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from City College of New York and went on to complete his dental training at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. Following a number of years in general practice, Dr. Sherman returned to school to receive his certificate in orthodontics from New York University College of Dentistry. He has been practicing the specialty of orthodontics for more than 25 years.

Dr. Sherman is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Orthodontics at NYU, where he lectures and trains future orthodontists. He is also on staff at LIJ Medical Center in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry, where he was recently recognized for 25 years of distinguished service.

Dr. Sherman is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Northeast Society of Orthodontists, the New York State Society of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, the New York State Dental Association and the Nassau County Dental Society. He is also founder, past president, current program chairman and an active lecturer in the Great Neck Dental Study Club. To remain up-to-date on the latest technologies and philosophies, Dr. Sherman continually attends seminars and lectures and has earned nearly one thousand hours of continuing education credits.

Dr. Sherman has lived in Great Neck for over 25 years. He has been married to Linda, our office manager, for over 30 years. Together, they have two children, Dr. David and Jessica, a first grade teacher in Manhattan.  In their spare time, the Shermans enjoy outdoor activities including snow skiing, golfing and hiking.

Dr. David Sherman graduated from Great Neck North High School in 1996.  He then studied at the University of Pennsylvania graduating in 2000 having earned his Bachelor’s degree in Economics.  Dr. Dave then proceeded to SUNY Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine earning his DDS degree in 2004.  He graduated in the top 10% of his class while receiving multiple awards and honors.

After graduating from Stony Brook, Dr. Dave pursued his post-graduate training in orthodontics at the New York University College of Dentistry.  This past July, he completed his residency, having served as the Chief Resident of his orthodontic graduating class.  Dr. Dave also completed a 2-year research project investigating the effects of the Invisalign® appliance on patients’ periodontal health. 

Dr. Dave is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Northeast Society of Orthodontists, the New York State Society of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, the New York State Dental Association and the Nassau County Dental Society.  He continues to stay abreast of the most modern techniques as he   regularly attends continuing education seminars and lectures.
